How to prepare for a visit to Medica Riga
To ensure that your visit to Medica Riga clinic is as calm, transparent, and fulfilling as possible, we invite you to familiarize yourself with the information below about the preparation and course of the visit.
Preparing for the visit
When visiting the Medica Riga clinic, especially for a first consultation, please bring:
-
the results of previous examinations,
-
hospital records,
-
reports done by other doctors you have visited (e.g. endocrinologist, surgeon, ophthalmologist, etc.).
This information helps the doctor get a more complete picture of your health condition and provide you with the most appropriate recommendations.
When going to a cardiologist, we recommend that you also bring your home blood pressure readings from the last few days, which allows the doctor to assess your daily blood pressure readings more accurately.
Course and duration of the visit
Although the length and course of the visit may vary depending on the doctor's specialization, consultations are most often scheduled for 1 hour, so that the doctor has enough time to talk and assess your health. Please note that the total visit time may be slightly longer, as a blood pressure measurement may be performed before the consultation.
A visit to a cardiologist-arrythmologist usually lasts about 30 minutes.
A visit to a cardiologist, a specialist in adult congenital heart disease, most often lasts more than 1 hour and usually includes an echocardiogram.
The first-time visit is planned to last up to 1.5 hours, as an in-depth conversation and evaluation of examinations are required.
Before the visit, the following are usually done:
-
blood pressure and oxygen saturation measurements on the arms and legs,
-
electrocardiogram (if it has not been done previously and is not taken with you).
In some cases, a 6-minute walk test may also be scheduled, which may extend the visit time by 15–30 minutes.
